Winter's Icy Tears
by Weslynn McCallister

Captive in a barren land, temperatures hovered below freezing. Steets, slick with winter's icy tears, promised disasters while citizens of northern latitudes curled up near cozy fires.

As winter's snow began to fall, transforming the stark landscape into a wonderland of dreams, I ssnuggled into my quilts near glowing embers.

The remembrance of your warm caress haunted my midnight hours. Longing for you and southern hemispheres, I hastened to return from a far away land of bitter cold.

Hot Salsa Nights
by Weslynn McCallister

His eyes of cerulean blue sparkled through the shade of his ebony sombrero. Darkly tanned, long and lean, he filled the doorway of the old saloon, his lizard skin boots tapping to the beat of a hot salsa tune.

My eyes met his from across a smoke filled room. Mesmerized, I rose, drawn by his mysterious aura. Swaying to the beat of the music, we joined, tapping Our heels to the rhythm of the band.

Moving together on a steamy summer’s eve near The border of Mexico, we danced into a destiny of hot Salsa nights.

A Garden Tryst
by Weslynn McCallister

In the silence of the garden, pale moonlight streamed down upon the lovers, casting a soft glow upon their faces.

Droplets of dew clung like teardrops to the fragrant pink rose he so thoughtfully tucked into her hair of golden blonde.

His ancient vows of love echoed in her mind long after their garden tryst. Clad in a gown of satin and lace, she joined with him in a dream born in a figment of her imagination.

Weslynn's March - April Newsletter 2015

After a fun Facebook party to celebrate the release of my romantic suspense novel “What Lies Within” by Jamie Cortland, I am now looking forward to book events and book signings in the Indie stores in southwest Florida. Planned events will be announced on this site while impromptu events will be announced on my blog and my Facebook pages. I am also on Goodreads, a great site for authors and readers too.

Astrologically speaking, Saturn, the planet indicating hard work, limitations and separations, now transiting Sagittarius, will move into its retrograde position on March 14 at 4 degrees of Sagittarius and will go direct at 28 degrees of Scorpio on August 2. The emphasis is upon responsibility. How responsible have you been in the past? If Saturn aspects your horoscope favorably, you will be much better than another whose chart is affected negatively.

If you have not had your horoscope prepared and would like to do so, please e-mail me at Weslynn3@netzero.com. If you do have your chart or horoscope, you may want to purchase my book, “Timing is Everything; Astrology is the Key.”

Stay safe and have a great St. Patricks Day!

Sanctuary
by Weslynn McCallister

Reclining upon a sugar white beach, shaded by softly swaying palms, my eye was drawn by a tall blue heron striding elegantly through the sanctuary.

Searching for delicacies as he wades through the sapphire lagoon, a lone fisherman stands upon a worn pier, patiently awaiting his catch.

As the miracle of wildlife and nature unfold, my spirit is renewed, the hum of a faraway city forgotten.

Weslynn's January Newsletter 2015

Traveling down the winding paths of the memories of my mind, you appear a misty image. your breath still warm upon my cheek.

Weslynn's Newsletter October 2014

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Did you know that on October 31 the veil between this life and the next is the thinnest? It is the perfect time to communicate with the beyond or to experience a haunting… Creepy.

Since my last newsletter, I have some great news! As you know, “What Lies Within” is in line to be published by World Castle Publishing. A few weeks ago, I received a contract from the same publisher for “Dying to Dance.” There will be a sequel to this book. Although, I’m working on it, I’m not sure of the title… maybe “Drink Red Wine and Dance,” but maybe not.

Speaking of dancing, on December 19, I will be dancing a choreographed Bolero with my instructor, Maksim Spasov, and perhaps, I will be competing with Maksim in an exciting ballroom dance competition in Orlando.
Happy Birthday to Scorpio.

The Veil Between Worlds
by Weslynn McCallister

As the sun began to set and a chill wind swept over the
land, vampires rose from their crypts, werewolves howled
warning that danger was near.
Unsuspecting souls dressed in costumes set out for
merriment and treats while hoodlums wandered the streets
and neighborhoods wreaking havoc.
As the clock reached its zenith, zombies danced, vampires
dined, werewolves hunted their prey while monsters from
beyond loomed over bars, waiting for an inebriated soul
to take over his or her body.
White witches, mediums, and fortune tellers received messages
from beyond the veil to pass onto loved ones.
As the sun rose, monsters, werewolves and vampires retreated
To their lairs until again when the veil between the worlds thinned.

Weslynn's Early Fall Newsletter

I am late again writing my newsletter. But not because of my injuries. Last week, I was finally released from my Physical Therapy Program that I needed to do for the injuries that I suffered from the accident. I was late because I did not have electronics for nearly two weeks...a long time without internet or TV! For those two weeks, I read a lot of books and even started another novel “Dance, and Drink Red Wine.”

Speaking of which, I am going to soon be reviving “Prophecies of the Ancients,” “Apache Springs”, and “Wyatt's Deck” in an ebook format. I am hoping to have everyone of those books plus “Dying to Dance” published by Christmas!

River of Grass
by Weslynn McCallister

Deep within the glades, near a brackish river, tinted red by the mangroves brackish tannic acid, 'gators sun along banks while a lone fisherman reels in his catch.

An Osprey calls to his mate as she rests upon her nest in a tall tree, its branches heavily laden with lacy Spanish moss.

Quietly my guide and I glide through sacred waters, disturbing nothing, remembering the River of Grass is a habitat for nature's own.

Weslynn's August-September Newsletter

Happy Labor Day! Be careful this weekend and treat others the way that you would like to be treated. Don't forget to “Pay it Forward.”

Do your traveling and important correspondence this month (September) for on October 5th, Mercury will move into its retrograde position and stay there until October 25th. If you sign a contract while Mercury is in its retrograde position, it is apt to need revisions later. Traveling while the planet is in retrograde position is likely to bring traffic snarls, poor communications, delays and overall frustrations.

On the 23 of August, we entered the sign of Virgo which is ruled by Mercury.” If you're curious about your sign, you may read “Timing is Everything; Astrology is the Key-Book 2 “ by Wes Alistair. It is available at most on-line bookstores, The Balboa Press, or you may order a copy from me from this website.

Poem for August and September is “Hurricane Winds.”

“Hurricane Winds”
by Weslynn McCallister

Hurricane winds buffeted my heart as his sparkling hazel eyes met mine Captured by his magnetism, my heart raced.

Without hesitation, I moved toward him, knowing he was my destiny and I, his.

As I moved closer still, an unexpected warning of impending sounded.

Turn, run, never look back. Ignoring the warning, my hand met his in a brief gesture of our meeting.

The electronic vibration of his touch betrayed our lifetimes past. For better or worse, he was mine, and I his for this lifetime.

Weslynn's July Newsletter
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

Have fun; Celebrate and Stay Safe!

Jupiter is soon leaving the sign of Cancer and moving into the sign of Leo mid-July. For those of us that are either Fire Sign ascendents or Sun Signs, we may look for more benefits, especially if we are in the political or entertainment world.

Mars, the planet of energy and war, is finally departing Libra on July 27 and moving into the Sign of Scorpio where it will stay until September 14 when it continues its usual journey through the zodiac. This planet has been transiting Libra since December of 2013. For many Aries Ascendants it has been transiting their seventh house, the house of partnerships offering them many challenges.

In regard to writing, I am looking forward to fall seminars and the annual FWA conference and to perhaps beginning a new book. “What Lies Beneath” is still on schedule for publication, “Dying Dance” is being considered for publication, and “The Gardener's Secrets” is in line for publication.

Have a great month. Happy birthday to both Cancer and early Leo's whose sign begins July 21.

“An Old Saloon Near Water's Edge”
by Weslynn McCallister

On a warm tropical eve, under a star studded sky the sound of the piano man's tunes beckon me to enter the old saloon near water's edge.

In a dimly lit corner, in a smoke filled room, he beckons with dancing fingers and a promise in his twinkling eyes of hazel.

With a wink and a smile, the piano man's clever wit and melodic voice, strum the strings to my heart.

Weslynn's Early Summer's Newsletter

Actually, this should be May's Newsletter, but it is quite late due to the accident I suffered on March 30. If you don't know about it, I was rear-ended by a large truck while waiting for a traffic light to turn.

The injuries I suffered from the accident have caused me a great deal of pain and therapy not to mention strange medical procedures that I would have never expected to be demanded of me.

An MRI? No thank you. Oh? I have to. It was not in my plans, but once they put me on a metal table, they slid me into sort of a tunnel that was open at the sides ,but not overhead. A cage was slid over and my hands and arms were trapped, tightly held down. I have claustrophobia and wanted out! No way could I keep my eyes open. I shut them tightly.

Maybe I could sleep. “Ping. Ping” No such luck. The noise increased until it was a roar. OK. So maybe this thing was really designed on an alien planet. Maybe was on the ship that crashed in Roswell, New Mexico in the 1940's. My mind traveled to “Prophecies of the Ancients,” a sci-fi novel I wrote. It needs a sequel, I thought. My mind traveled into the space that I go to when I am plotting a new book. I drifted off to sleep in spite of the strange noise. When I opened my eyes, the machine had stopped. I rose, dressed, and left, hoping I would never need to return.

I had hoped to make an exciting announcement this month, but due to the above I will not be able to do that. Rather, I must tell you that I will not be dancing in the International Dance Competition in June. I hope to heal rapidly and dance again in another competition with my dance partner, Maksim Spasov.

Weslynn's April 2014 Newsletter

Good News! Just a few days ago, I received a new Publishing Contract for “What Lies Within,” a romantic suspense novel. It is with World Castle Publishing and will be published between six to fourteen months from now.

It is about Evelyn O'Malley who meets James McMann whom she believes is the man of her dreams only to discover, after a whirlwind courtship, that he is the hideous monster from her nightmares. Once trapped in his web of madness, her only thought is to escape.

Sound familiar? If you have read “Skin Deep”, it is, but only the first part. “Skin Deep” is out of print and no longer available at book stores. I have extensively re-vised the novel. From the middle of the book, there is little resemblance. “What Lies Within” has an entirely different ending. I'll say no more. I think you will like it even better than the original. When you finish, I'd like to hear from you. Which book did you like best. Is this is the first alternate book you have read?

Mother's Day is coming up soon. Please remember your Mother on this special day. Just a card, or a call is nice. Flowers are wonderful.

Following, is my award winning poem for the month, dedicated to my Mother who passed before her time.

The Remembrance
by Weslynn McCallister

On a late summer's day, you departed unexpectedly on the journey you foretold. That afternoon, a void entered my life never to be filled again.

'Twas more than thirty summers past when I first gazed into your flashing eyes of deepest brown.

With an innocent's trust, I placed my new life into your hands.

You cared with love and gentleness for the young girl with dimples of her father and hair of auburn.

As the young girl became a woman, you taught her principals you held dear.

Gone are you now, Mother, yet not forgotten. Images drift into my mind of a tall, lonely raven- haired beauty.

You so longed to be with the one you loved, yet spent so few years this lifetime with. That summer's afternoon, you joined my father beyond the veil.

Weslynn's March 2014 Newsletter

Late, but just on time to announce my results of The Sarasota Dance Challenge that I competed in on Sunday. Out of 36 dances, my awards were two first places, seven second places and seven third places. Most were in the intermediate to full Bronze division. The Foxtrot and the Viennese Waltz to date are not only my favorites, but my best. I have lots of new ideas for my next romantic suspense novel which again will have a ballroom dance background.

“Dying to Dance” hasn't died. It is still at the agents. For all of my fellow authors and aspiring authors, there is a short one page article in the Writer's Digest Magazine this month on How to Wait for the Agent's reply. Its very funny, but won't really tell you how to wait. Just be patient.

As for “What Lies Within”, it is being re-formatted for submission to a good small publisher.

Happy Birthday, Pieces and Aries!

Weslynn's February 2014 Newsletter

Almost missed it! March is just around the corner. Mercury is finally going direct at 18 degrees of Aquarius. The planet moved into its retrograde position on February 6th at 3 degrees of Pisces which caused communication and transportation problems. It may be that they will be not be clear until Mercury is at 3 Pisces again which is March 21.

My novel, “Dying to Dance” was sent to an agent in New York by her request just before Mercury moved into its retrograde position. Since I was running late, I decided to send it then. Not a good decision on my part. Don’t do that. Do not sign a contract, mail an important document or make a decision from two days before a retrograde to two days after the planet moves direct. It would not be unheard of if my manuscript ended up at the bottom of a slush pile. Keeping my fingers crossed that it did not.

“Dying to Dance” aside, I am nearly ready to begin a new book…Book Two of my “Love to Dance Series.”

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day holiday. March 9th, Daylight Savings Time begins. Remember to change your clocks. March 17, St. Paddy’s Day!

Happy Birthday, Pisces and Aquarius!

A Frigid Winter's Night
By Weslynn McCallister

The firelight flickered, casting eerie shadows upon a near empty room as a cold wind crept beneath the window sill.

Snuggled deep within my blankets, I longed for your warmth.

Though you've vanished embers within, my heart smoulders for you still.

September's Sea
By Weslynn McCallister

A cool autumn breeze ruffled her vibrant hair of burnished red as she strolled down a narrow shell path, sprinkled with golden leaves.

Emerging from tall swaying sea oats surrounding the path, she settled upon a pale yellow bench near water's edge.

As she gazed upon a bare and desolate beach, the incoming tide gathered its treasures, returning them to the cool September's sea.

A sea bird soared from the heavens, landing nearby as an autumn's sun began to set, casting a blaze of crimson and violet shadows upon the sandy shore. As the September's sea shown in its autumn glory, she rose, her faith renewed by nature's beauty.

Weslynn's August 2013 Newsletter

Summertime in southwest Florida is hot, humid, and stormy, with blazing sunsets! During the hours of storms, of incredible lightening and rumbling of thunder, I sit at my computer and write.

Earlier this month, I completed the first draft of “Dying to Dance.” I am now a third of the way through the second draft with much re-reading and re-writing to go. For me, this is the fun part of writing a novel.

After an author is satisfied with his or her story, the manuscript is shipped off to the editor; then to an agent or a publisher. It takes time to create a good novel. There are no short cuts.

If you’re waiting to read your favorite author’s new novel, but it hasn’t been completed or released yet, read one of his/her earlier works. There’s a good chance you will love it.

Mars, Ruler of Aries in Leo
By Weslynn McCallister

Mars, ruler of Aries, in Leo is self-assured and willing to take chances.

Enterprising and ambitious, he may be jealous, egotistical, and bossy.

Afflicted by the malefics, Mars in the house of the Sun God is likely to develop problems with the heart.

Weslynn's July 2013 Newsletter

July 4, was a blast in Sarasota, Florida with fireworks exploding over Sarasota Bay and the Suncoast’s Super Boat Grand Prix to begin in just a few more days’ opening with a great boat parade down Main Street. Along with 50,000 other fans, we watched the races from Lido Beach. The winner? If I had known who the winner was, this newsletter would have been written on July 9 but the winner wasn’t posted on-line until July 15.

The STIHL Race Team took the race in a fantastically gorgeous boat that I would love to own. It was a great race, a fun time, and I’m looking forward to next year’s off shore super boat race.

If you have found the past three weeks to be full of miscommunications which has left you wondering what happened, that’s just about to change. Mercury has been retrograde since June 26. Tomorrow, July 20, the planet moves into its direct position. You may expect transportation and communications to clear up. Oftentimes, when Mercury moves from its retrograde or its direction weather patterns tend to change as well.

On July 23, the Sun moves into the sign of Leo. Wishing you a very happy birthday! Following, is a poem I wrote on a steaming hot night in South Texas in a little city near the border of Mexico.

Hot Salsa Nights
By Weslynn McCallister

His eyes of cerulean blue sparkled through the shade of his ebony sombrero. Darkly tanned, long and lean, he filled the doorway of the old saloon, his black lizard skin boots tapping to the beat of a hot salsa tune.

My eyes met his from across the smoke filled room. Mesmerised, I rose, drawn by his mysterious aura. Swaying to the beat of the music, we joined, tapping our heels to the rhythm of the band.

Moving together on a steamy summer’s eve, near the border of Mexico, we danced into a destiny of salsa hot nights.

Both Flag Day and Father’s Day are coming up soon. Remember your Dad, if only to give him a special call or send a card.

I am on track with completion of the first draft of my romantic suspense novel, “Dying to Dance.” Following is a short synopsis:

"Dying to Dance"
By Weslynn McCallister

Diana and her sister, Char Mansville, both authors in their early twenties, lose their parents in a tragic automobile accident. Left with a troubled estate to sort out and the need to re-locate, they embark upon the long road trip from Arizona to Sarasota, Florida. Moving in temporarily with their beautiful, forever young, ballroom dancer, Marion Mansville, she introduces the girls to the exciting world of dance.

Before Diana begins, she boards a cruise to the Mediterrean thinking she will use the experience in her present novel. On the re-bound from a serious affair with Wyatt Harper, she meets handsome and charming, Dr. Roland Donovan who becomes her companion on the cruise. When suspicious deaths begin to occur in his wake, she begins to realize that he may not be what he appears to be.

Once she returns home from her cruise, Diana is stalked by Roland, a sociopath, whom she discovers is in dire financial straits and will do anything to save himself.

Will Diana be able to survive Donovan’s deadly plans for her or she be caught up in his trap?

I am expecting this novel to be published by the first of the year. In the meantime, my novels,"Skin Deep", "Never Trust a Stranger", and "Prophecies of the Ancients" are still available for order through this website. "Romancing the Zodiac-Book Two," "Timing is Everything-Book Two", both written under my pseudonym, Wes Alistair, are available on this website as well as on-line bookstores.

Afternoon in Paradise
By Weslynn McCallister

Reclining in a hammock, strung high in a gazebo by the sea, gulls circle overhead.

Sea oats rustle softly as sea turtles creep home. Wild baby's breath bloom among sticker patches, casting dappled shadows upon lazy lizards sunning.

An incoming tide splashes upon platinum sands as tiny sandpapers play their never e ending games at water's edge.

As a tropical sun melts into sparkling Turquoise seas, a flash of emerald green brings a longing for another afternoon in paradise.

Aries Rising
By Weslynn McCallister

Child of Mars, Aries rising is optimistic, cheerful, and friendly.

Opinionated and not easily influenced, Aries rising holds contempt for those whose minds and actions are slower than their own.

Often experiencing an unsettled lonely childhood, Aries rising has learned to be self-reliant.

Under the sun's golden rays, Aries tresses glow sunset red while his alert eyes gaze out from under heavy brows.

Short in stature, his body is strong and athletic. While the son of Aries rising pursues all comely maidens, the daughter of Mars, possessing quick wit and a flare for dance, beckons admirers.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Happy Easter! Enjoy yourselves, be safe, pass it forward and be kind to everyone.

I am also offering those of you who order copies of "Romancing the Zodiac-Book 11" and "Timing Is Everything; Astrology is the Key" a complimentary copy of your birth chart. Angel on Our Shoulders
By Weslynn McCallister

With a burden laying heavy on our hearts,
once more at the crossroads of life,
we sense the angel on our shoulders.

Whispering gently its great wisdom,
listen to your inner voice,
your god-self.
Through this, you will fulfill
your path of destiny, hurting none,
benefiting many.

Angel on our shoulders, guiding us
gently on our rocky paths, we strain to hear
your whisper above life’s chaos.

Last weekend, I attended the Sleuthfest held by the Mystery Writer’s of America at the Hyatt Regency in Sarasota, Florida. The Acquiring editor and agents attending were Terri Bischoff with Midnight Ink and Nicole Reseiniti , a literary agent with the Seymour Agency.

Terri is looking for all types of crime fiction from cozy to suspense thriller while Nicole is looking for mainstream suspense, thrillers, mysteries, YA and inspirational novels. For those of you who are working on a novel in the above genres, or looking for an agent or an acquiring editor, you missed some great workshops.

Next fall, the Florida Writer’s Association, which I am a founding member of, will be holding their annual conference which will offer many wonderful workshops in various genres. As we approach the registration date, I will let you know all about the panels that will be offered as well as the speakers, editors and agents.

"Dying to Dance", my work in progress, is coming along well and I hope to have it completed by late summer. As most of you know, I love to dance…particularly ballroom. Next month, March 22 and 23, the Sarasota Challenge Dance Competition will be held at the Hyatt Regency where my dance partner/instructor and I will be competing. I’m working hard, both on my novel and my dances and am looking forward to dancing with my partner/instructor, Maksim Spasov, owner of Premier Dance Studio, in the competition. Lost in Time
By Weslynn McCallister

In a split second, we were lost in time. Heart to heart, soul to soul, in a moment of supreme ecstasy.

As time stood still, we met on another plane, one reserved only for twin souls. Would-be lovers, in perfect harmony, we joined together in an unforgettable moment

Weslynn's January 2013 Newsletter

Congratulations to all of us who survived December 21, the day many thought was World’s End. Some hid in basements or shelters, others attended what they believed might be their last service, most attended World’s End parties, which was exactly where I was….on a dance floor doing a red hot salsa with friends. The church service came later in gratitude for one more day and hopefully many more on our beloved planet.

For those of you who are interested in Numerology, did you know that the year of 2013 is a #6 Universal year signifying abundance and happiness? Of course, we all have a personal year. To find yours, just add the month and day of your birth. To learn more about this subject, just go to http://Crystalwind.ca.

As for myself, I have finally completed re-writing my novel, “Skin Deep” which was taken off the market recently due to my publisher’s decision to publish only non-fiction. Since I did not have the original diskette, I have chosen to re-write the novel from mid-way to the end to include a completely new ending…one I originally preferred. I have just submitted the novel to a traditional publisher and will inform you of its’ progress. In the interim, I am more than halfway finished with my work in progress which is another suspense novel.

I am now posting both my writing and dance events to include writers Conferences, book events as well as dance competitions which I enjoy competing in as well as performances.

My poem for the month is "At Water’s Edge."

At Water’s Edge
By Weslynn McCallister

Golden ringlets framed her tiny heart shaped face. Eyes of cerulean blue sparkled, full of wonder, as she perched at waters edge, gazing upon the shimmering sea.

Grains of silver white sand sparkled under a mid-days sun as the warm tropical breeze played through her locks, whispering wondrous tales of days to come. Reflecting, she stands once more at waters edge, her long golden mane flowing in the breeze, eyes shining with joyful anticipation as she joins hands with her beloved.

Winter’s Icy Tears
By Weslynn McCallister

Venus in Libra is refined and social able, beckoning the fire and air signs.

Captive in a barren land, temperatures hovered below freezing. Streets, slick with winter’s icy tears, promised disaster while citizens of northern latitudes curled up near cozy fires.

As winter’s snow began to fall, transforming the stark landscape into a wonderland of dreams, I snuggled into my quilts near glowing embers.

The remembrance of your warm caress haunted my midnight hours. Longing for you and southern hemispheres, I hastened to return from a far away land of bitter cold.

Weslynn's November 2012 Newsletter

3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
½ cup packed light brown sugar

The Band
By Weslynn McCallister

Venus in Libra is refined and social able, beckoning the fire and air signs.

The rhythmic beat of the drums In the old café’ near water’s edge becons on a late winter’s eve.

As a risk northeast wind kisses cheeks of cherry red, the tantalizing wail of a saxophone calls.

The boogie woogie beat of piano keys sets our heels flying, inviting us to the old café’ near water’s edge.

Sheltered from winter’s icy breath, bodies sway in rhythmic beats, heels tap on a glistening wooden dance floor in an old café near water’s edge.

Venus in Libra
By Weslynn McCallister

Venus in Libra is refined and social able, beckoning the fire and air signs.

Desiring a permanent mate, yet having none, she scatters her energies. Married, she may desire to conform her beloved to her likes.

Weslynn's September 2012 Newsletter

Happy Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kipper! Did you know that September 21 is the International Day of Peace? Miracles do happen even though they may seem impossible. May we all pray for peace.

A glance to the Stars will tell you that the Cardinal signs will soon find demands in partnerships and relationships easing. For the past two years, Saturn has been transiting the sign of Libra. Responsibility in relationships have been demanding and disciplined. Sales in luxury items have been slow due to a depressed economic climate demanding thrift.

On October 6, Saturn enters the sign of Scorpio for two years. We will see more responsibility in financial affairs, taxes and inheritances. Intellectual, philosophical, and spiritual achievements will be to the forefront. Though the real estate market may be on its way up, don’t expect much until Saturn enters the sign of Sagittarius the very end of 2014.

Have a happy and safe Halloween and be sure to check out my excerpt on this site for my new book,"Timing is Everything; Astrology is the Key-Book Two".

Mars, Ruler of Aries, in Virgo
By Weslynn McCallister

Mars, ruler of Aries in Virgo, is quiet, mentally active and attracted to scientific enterprises.

Suffering reversals in his ambitions, obstacles block his path as he struggles to advance.

Kind and even tempered, he is a worrier. Afflicted, he is irritable and hasty. Overly proud, obstinate, and revengeful, he has a tendency to accidents and suffers illness due to overwork.

Weslynn's August 2012 Newsletter

It’s just past mid-August and, as expected, it’s heating up here in South Florida. Gators are roaming golf courses, lawns, and lounging on drive ways with some lurking under cars. Hot, and humid, with a tropical storm headed toward the Caribbean, it’s anyone’s guess where it will eventually land. If you’re in its path, stock up on canned food, water, and flashlights. Be prepared and keep up with the weather forecasts.

The first week of July was wonderful…so much fun dancing in the Triple Crown Ballroom Dance Sport Championships at the Ritz Carlton in Sarasota. My talented and wonderful dance Partner/Instructor, Maksim Spasov, owner of Premier Dance Studio on Lakewood Ranch, and I won three awards in the following dances: The American Tango, the East Coast Swing, and the Fox Trot. Now I’m working on the West Coast Swing, the Bolero and the Meringue. (And yes…still working on Love to Dance.)

Happy Birthday, Virgo. Your sign does not actually begin until August 23 and ends on September 22. According to my recently released book, “Timing is Everything; Astrology is the Key; Book 11”, generally speaking, Virgo’s are intelligent, thoughtful, serious, and critical. Meticulous in regard to cleanliness, they make excellent secretaries, nurses, editors, fashion designers and travel agents. There is much to be learned about all of the signs in both “Romancing the Zodiac-Book 11” and in my new release. You may order on this site or from most on-line book stores.

Andrew, Son of Hades
By Weslynn McCallister

Tiny sandpipers skittered to ocean’s edge playing a never ending game with the incoming tide.

A warm tropical breeze, sweetly scented filled the heavy air. Sun-kissed bodies reclined on golden beaches unaware of his malevolent approach.

Spawned by Hades, God of Destruction, he crept across the Atlantic, weak in appearance.

Seizing gifts of Poseidon and Zeus, gaining strength, he demanded to be christened. Man, bowing in homage, acknowledged him as “Andrew.”

Nearing his destiny, on a late summer’s eve, swaying palms bowed deeply in respect of his approach, sensing death was near. Unleashing his rage, he screeched and churned demonic winds, destroying all in his path, hastening onward.

As the sun rose over the sea, a once tropical paradise appeared transformed into desolation and rubble.

Sadness and despair hovered over the land as tears fell. Lingering still was the aura of the Son of Hades.

Those with darkness in their souls looted devastated brothers, coldly ignoring their plight.

With courage and determination, men rose from despair to rebuild shattered lives. Many, with hearts of gold, came from afar to their aid.

Andrew, Son of Hades, God of Destruction will long be remembered for his devastation of a once lush and tropical paradise.

The Enchanted Garden
By Weslynn McCallister

Perched upon a white washed bench, palm fronds rustle with a soft summer breeze as I await my secret love.

Sensing his endearing presence as he approaches, my heart races.

Tall, with sparkling eyes of hazel and hair of shining chestnut brown, he has cast me forever under his magical spell as once he vowed he would.

Drawn to him through a sea of millions, I was defenseless against the power of love.

Locked in his warm embrace on a magical summer’s afternoon, my closely guarded secret is revealed as two hearts join forever- more in an enchanted garden by the sea.

Cancer, Child of the Moon
By Weslynn McCallister

‘Twas an early summer’s eve, the Moon was full, casting a platinum Glow upon the luminous seas below.

While the undines frolicked, the Moon Goddess bestowed life upon her Beloved child, Cancer.

A child of water, changeable as the Sea, Cancer nourishes those she Loves.

Mediumistic and sensitive, the Moon Child is ruler of the breasts and Stomach.

Vibrating to Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio and Pisces, she is cardinal and tropical in sign, first of the water triplicity.

Weslynn's May 2012 Newsletter

Surprise! The galley’s for “Timing is Everything; Astrology is the Key” have just arrived from Balboa Press. The cover is gorgeous and I know all of you who wish to learn Traditional Astrology 101 will love it. I have not only re-edited the first version, but included questionnaires after each major chapter.

If you are not familiar with Balboa Press, it is a division of Hay House, which is a well respected traditional publishing house of inspirational and non-fiction works. Some of their authors included Wayne Dyer and Louise Hay. For my works of fiction, I would choose a traditional House, but for my astrology text book, I found Balboa, a self-publishing division, perfect for what I wanted to see.

If some of you have a fiction novel ready to submit, you may want to consider entering it in Hay House’s writers contest , but do so by June 1! Some of the awards include a publishing contract with Hay House Visions and a $5,000 advance!

Have a wonderful May and don’t forget Mother’s Day!

Mercury, the Communicator, in Taurus

Happy Easter!

Tomorrow, Mercury moves into its direct position. Expect communications to clear; traffic snarls to become fewer. Contracts will be more clear and contain less errors. If you require medical procedures or auto repairs, Mercury direct is a much better time to have these things done. Often times, when repairs are made under a Mercury retrograde position, they have to be done over. The same applies to medical procedures.

This month, Mercury and Saturn are visible through the 15th in the morning sky while Venus, Mars and Jupiter are visible in the Evening sky. Jupiter is transiting Taurus until June 11 which will bring benefits and expansion to many of the earth and water signs with the exception of Scorpio.

"Dying to Dance," my work in progress, is coming along well and so far, my target date for completion is late December of this year unless, of course, it suddenly becomes a longer novel than I expect.

Please check my events. I have many radio shows coming up soon for "Romancing the Zodiac-Book Two."

Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour on March 11. How nice it will be to have an hour or so more of daylight in the evenings, especially for those of us who enjoy a long walk on the beach in the evening.

Mercury Retrograde is coming around again. March 12, Mercury will move into its retrograde position and will remain there until April 4 when it moves direct once again. During the time that it is retrograde, expect traffic snarls, transportation and communications. With the freezing weather that has been sweeping across the nation recently, many are falling ill to colds, flue and viruses. Unfortunately, I have been among them, so as I usually do, I’ve turned to natural health remedies. Following is some of the information that I’ve found: If you haven’t caught a cold yet, take Olive Leaf or Grape Seed combined with L-Lysine. Both are natural anti0biotics. If It’s too late for that and you‘ve already come down with a sore throat and chills, Ginger tea will help; Vitamin C. 1000 mg. three to four times daily; and garlic which combats infection. More information is available in “Prescription for Natural Cures” by James F. Balch, M.D. and Mark Stengler, N.D.

Stay healthy, have fun and girls… don’t forget that this is leap year! Feb. 29 occurs only once every four years. Traditionally, according to an old Irish legend dating back to the Fifth Century, a woman may propose to a man. That might be carrying it a bit far, but why not ask that man you’re been longing to go out with on a date?

Neptune, Ruler of Pisces
By Weslynn McCallister

Neptune, illusive, and receptive, possessing a tendency toward mysticism, Neptune rules the unconscious.

Etheral, he bestows dreams and fantasies upon his idealistic and faithful subjects. In his misty kingdom, he rules the pineal gland, solar plexus, and the aura.

Neptune’s subjects are often found among mediums, the slight-of-hand, the spiritually oriented, ethereal artists, and muscians.

Happy New Year!

I hope each of you had a happy and safe New Year. If you missed ushering in 2012 with a party as you may have wished to do, why not celebrate on Chinese New Year?

This year is the Year of the Dragon to include the Metal Dragons born in the years of 1940, 2000; the Water Dragons born in 1952, 1912; the Wood Dragons born in 1904 and 1954; the Fire Dragons, born in 1916 and 1976; and the Earth Dragons born in the years of 1928 and 1988.

Generally speaking, the Dragon rules the fifth sign of the Chinese Zodiac. It is known to be the strongest of signs much like Leo which rules the fifth house of our Tropical Zodiac. Just as Leo, Dragons symbolize dominance and ambition, preferring to live by their own rules and work alone. Most, they are successful and unafraid of challenges. Willing to risk it all, they rarely ask for help. There is much to say about the personality of the Dragon as well as the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig but there are many websites and books available to seek further information.

Speaking of the Zodiac, Mars moves into its Retrograde position on 23 Jan at 23 degrees of Virgo and remains in its retrograde position until April 14 when the planet finally goes direct at 3 degrees of Virgo. If you have read my book, “Timing is Everything; Astrology is the Key” by Wes Alistair, you know that for the eighty days that Mars is retrograde, it is at it’s strongest. You may order this book either from me or from Amazon.com.

Happy Birthday Aquarius!

Child of Uranus, Aquarius Rising is a fixed air sign. Unpredictable as a bolt of lightning, he is brilliant and unique.

Tall, slender, and attractive with prominent bone structure, his style and attire are unusual.

Logical, intuitive and psychic, he possesses an independent nature and is unconcerned with others opinions.

Reliable and kindhearted, Aquarius Rising is a fine friend. He is often found among astrologers, alternative health therapists, and in electronics and telecommunications.

The Band
By Weslynn McCallister

The rhythmic beat of the drums in the old café’ near water’s edge beckons on a late winter’s eve.

As a brisk northeast wind kisses cheeks of cherry red, the tantalizing wail of a saxophone calls.

The boogie woogie beat of piano keys sets our heels flying inviting us to the old café’ near water’s edge.

Sheltered from winter’s icy breath, bodies sway in rhythmic beats, heels tap on a glistening wooden dance floor in an old café’ near water’s edge.

Weslynn's October/November 2011 Newsletter

Today is November 11, 2011, a day that happens only in one hundred years! What does this mean? Number 11 is a master number which signifies rebirth and new beginnings, a day in which you will be especially focused upon matters of the heart, intuition, inspiration, compassion, tolerance, and partnerships.

Think about taking a chance on the lotto. A number eleven day is said to be lucky due to it’s intense vibrational powers. Now that I think about it, when playing Craps, an eleven is just as good as a seven on the first roll of the dice.

Christmas is approaching and two of my novels are on sale! “Skin Deep” and “Prophecies of the Ancients” are now on sale at half price. Please click on the Order Form to the left. Both novels will soon be out of print.

All of you have asked when “Love to Dance” will be published. Due to my extremely busy schedule, I don’t expect the novel to be completed until late 2012. Some novels take six months to write, others ten years. But, I know you will love it when it is released.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Sapphire Seas
By Weslynn McCallister

Endless steamy days brought a longing for the cool breezes of her beloved highlands; yet, as a brilliant tangerine sun melted into a sea of sapphire blue, she sensed a quickening.

A soft breeze, filled with the scent of gardenias caressed her as the promised hour of an unexpected romance arrived.

Long and lean, with silken hair the shade of midnight, he strolled along water’s edge. With one glance into his sparkling green eyes, her heart was lost.

As he took her hand in his, she knew at once, she was his forevermore. Long would she remain in a gardenia scented land, caressed by warm tropical breezes and an unexpected love.

Weslynn's September 2011 Newsletter

Now that the hurricane season is becoming more and more active, I am including some information in regard to hurricane preparedness. First of all, if you don’t know what to expect, following is an explanation for the strength of the storms:

  • Cat. 1 74-95 mph winds with a 4-5 ft. storm surge and minimal damage.
  • Cat. 2 96-110 mph winds with 6-8 ft. storm surge and moderate damage
  • Cat. 3 111-130 mph winds with a 9-12ft. Storm surge and major damage
  • Cat. 4 131-165 mph winds with 13-18 ft. storm surge and severe damage
  • Cat. 5 155+mph. with 18+ storm surge and catastrophic damage.

Warnings: Tropical Storm Watch - Issued when tropical storm conditions may threaten the area within 36 hours and when the storm is not predicted to intensify to hurricane force.

Tropical Storm Warning - winds of 39-73 mph. can be expected in areas of a coastline within the next 24 hours.

Hurricane Watch- hurricane conditions may threaten a specific area within 36 hours.

If you decide to stay put during the storm, stock up on emergency water, food, batteries for radio and flashlights and first aid supplies. Your water and power may be out for days… maybe a week or two. Personally, I prefer to evacuate if the storm is a Cat. 3 or more. Evacuate to me means… go to Las Vegas! Okay, anywhere in the middle of the U.S. will do. I don’t like the howling winds that sound like demons prancing on the rooftop (if you still have one left!)

My poem this month is brand new and will, more than likely go into my next Romancing the Zodiac book. The poem has already been copywrited as all of my work is.

Jupiter in the Modest Palace of The Virgin Goddess
By Weslynn McCallister

Jupiter, benefactor of the Zodiac, visiting the modest palace of Virgo offers her the gift of rising above her expected station in life.

Generous and kind, Jupiter offers an analytical mind suited for practical scientific and philosophical investigation.

Studying natural laws, possessing wisdom, and honesty, she is selective with her friendships often choosing those who study the occult.

Jupiter, God of abundance, offers her benefits through her employees, literature, and investments.

If afflicted, when Jupiter resides in Virgo, disorders of the blood, liver, bowels and hips may result.

As of June 1, we have entered Hurricane Season. Where I live, in South Florida, we are particularly vulnerable as are residents throughout the southern United States. Be sure to make your preparations and plans should a hurricane focus its target upon your area. Following, is an award winning poem that I wrote some years ago which was featured as a centerfold in a literary magazine.

Andrew, Son of Hades
By Weslynn McCallister

Tiny sandpipers skittered to ocean's edge playing a never ending game with the incoming tide.

A warm tropical breeze, sweetly scented, filled the heavy air.

Man, bowing in homage, acknowledged him as "Andrew."

Nearing his destiny, on a late summer's eve, swaying palms bowed deeply in respect of his approach, sensing death was near. Unleashing his rage, he screeched and churned demonic winds, destroying all in his path, hastening onward.

As the sun rose over the sea, a once tropical paradise appeared, now transformed into desolation and rubble.

Andrew, Son of Hades, God of Destruction, will long be remembered for his devastation of a once lush and tropical paradise.

Biography of a Poet
By Weslynn McCallister

Slight of frame, flashing eyes of hazel, hair of golden wheat, her attitudes are as ageless as time.

Hopelessly romantic, she is suspended in the ages as she passionately pursues all that life so generously offers.

A seeker of knowledge, devoted to the arts, she shyly, but aggressively sweeps through the canvass of life.

Bound to those she loves, with ties fiercely held, her karma unfolds.

An astrologer of days gone by, a traveler through time, her spirit is as free as the wind as she dances through her life's path.

Happy Easter!

My apologies to all of you this month for being so late writing my newsletter this month. Due to many unexpected incidents and mis-communications occurring this month I have been unavoidably delayed.

Good News! Mercury will finally turn into its direct position on the 23 of April. By May 11, Mercury will move into the sign of Taurus. This is especially good news for all Aries, Cancer’s, Libra’s and Capricorns. We have all been affected by this planets retrograde in the transiting the fire sign of Aries. Have you noticed all of the traffic snarls, confrontations and miscommunications? This is one of the results of a Mercury Retrograde in Aries. You may read more about this in my book, "Romancing the Zodiac-Book Two" just as soon as it is released by the publisher.

Happy Birthday to all Aries and Taurus!

My poem for the month is "Sanctuary," an award winning poem which appears in my free-verse poetry book, "Shifting Sands." Copies of this book are available through Amazon.com.

Sanctuary
By Weslynn McCallister

Reclining upon a sugar white beach, shaded by softly swaying palms, my eye was drawn by a tall blue heron striding elegantly through the sanctuary.

Searching for delicacies as he wades through the clear sapphire lagoon, a lone fisherman stands upon a worn pier, patiently awaiting his catch.

As the miracle of wildlife and nature unfold, my spirit is renewed the hum of a faraway city forgotten.

Weslynn's March 2011 Newsletter

Finally, "Romancing the Zodiac - Book Two" is on its way to publication! Book Two contains an Introduction to astrology, free verse zodiac poetry for each sign and for each planet falling in that sign. Vagabond Days
By Weslynn McCallister

Longing to be but a vagabond, carefree of responsibilities, I long to explore far away lands in southern hemispheres.

Setting sail on sapphire seas, gliding over treasures, long ago buried, the spirit of Jose Gaspar hovers near.

Tropical isles, laden with tall swaying palms, guava trees bearing succulent fruits await my untimely arrival.

Natives, dancing to the drum of ancient rhythms, beckon me to join their frenzied beats.

As a winters sun sets, casting golden shadows, laughing children beckon me to gather ‘round a warm campfire.

With a twinkle in my eye, the spirit of Jose Gaspar hovers near as stories are told of vagabond days.

Tomorrow, the Sun moves into the sign of sensitive and charming Pisces, the astrological sing which produces so many poets, musicians, and film stars as well as novels of romance. Pisces Rising
By Weslynn McCallister

Daughter of Neptune, escaping a bitter childhood, has found solace in the solitary confinement of her room.

Writing stories of fantasies and magical places, she listens to music, reads and draws. Developing her creative abilities, she escapes her unappreciative family.

Often weak, born with a physical defect, she is a fragile child. Of medium height and size, her complexion is pale, her hair fine.

Of a mutable rising sign, Neptune’s daughter is restless, changeable and has a strong affinity for Sagittarius. A kind and good friend, she is nevertheless unreliable, Drifting in and out, never staying as a permanent fixture.

Particular about the color of her clothing rather than style, she slowly meanders downtown, Often pausing to gaze into windows of Metaphysical shops.

Canny, hard working, she is always searching for the misty world behind the veil.

Weslynn's January 2011 Newsletter

Happy New Year Everyone! In Chinese Astrology, this is the year of The Metal Rabbit. Lucky, for those of us who are rabbits.

Since I don't know much about Chinese Astrology, it might be well to cast our eyes to the heavens. You may have seen the a partial eclipse of the Sun which took place on January 4, 2011 at 13 degrees, forty-nine minutes of Capricorn. A solar eclipse falling in this sign is said to promote traditionalism and conservatism on a wide scale. Ambition, discipline, and pragmatism is expected to be the trend until the next solar eclipse which falls on June 1.

With the arrival 2011, all planets are forging ahead to include Mercury, the planet of communication and transportation. Late degree Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius will be making dramatic changes until after Uranus has moved into Aries on March 11 where it will remain until May of 2018.

Good news! "Skin Deep," by Weslynn McCallister, writing as Jamie Cortland, and "Prophecies of the Ancients" by Weslynn McCallister are now available on the Kindle!

Wishing all of you a successful and happy 2011!
